Kanten for fiber

This is a nice short information for those who are interested in other sources of fiber with minerals from the sea. I think the powder form of kanten is more convenient to use as to the one shown in the video.

Hi There,

I'm interested with the Kanten Powder, I wonder if

1. Is there any kind of Kanten powder that can be added when cooking cake, bread, donat, noodle or pasta?

2. Is there any instant kanten product (powder form) around that can be used
as travelling pack, can be easily mix with cold drink, milk or ice water or tea.
also comes with several flavours such as strawberry, chocolate, Grape, Orange or simple plain. I am looking for these kind of products.

Hi CJ! Yes, there is kanten powder actually you can purchase at most Asian grocery stores in most country. BTW, where are you locate? There is actually new type of kanten powder which actually can be dissolve in JUST hot water. However, if you are going to cook the food at boiling temperature, then I suggest you can just use standard kanten powder.

Instant Kanten powder is also available now and I think it is not widely available in stores. Maybe this is quite new to the markets, except Japan which has known this product the last few years. But if you have some families in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indonesia, you can ask them to buy them for you as I know there are some instant kanten powder (HOT water soluble kanten-differ from regular kanten owder that require boiling to dissolve) products available now there. If not, maybe you can try to search online and see if any stores that might offer such products online.

I believe you can buy some kanten powder products at your local Chinese stores. I have seen such products in most Chinese groceries stores in USA & Australia. Also you can actually search online to find some online shops that actually sell kanten powder or agar powder. Let me do some more search too if I can help to find the products I like to recommend you.
